Banasura Sagar Dam

An ideal destination for trekking activities in wayanad Chembra peak. The peak is located eight kilometer south of Kalpetta, near to the town of Meppady,which is visible from almost all parts of Wayanad adjoins Nilgiri hills in Tamil Nadu and Vallarimala in Kozhikode.It will take at least three hours to reach the top point of Chembra peak.
Soochipara (needle rock) waterfalls, One of the most attractive falls in wayanad, the water hits the sharp spikes of granite at the base and hence also known as Sentinel Rock waterfalls.The soochipara is located on Kozhikode – Vythiri – Gudallur Highway about 25 km from Kalpetta in Wayanad.
Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is contiguous to the Mudumalai of Tamil Nadu on the southeast and protected area network of Nagarhole and Bandipur of Karnataka on the northeast . Wildlife Sanctuary which is rich in bio diversity, it is an integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve , which has been established with the specific objective of conserving the biological heritage of the region.
Kuruvadweep or Kuruva Island also a known safe haven for migratory birds along with hornbills, parrots and many butterfly species comprises of a cluster of islets over the middle of Kabini River in Wayanad. Kuruva Island is popular for the boat rides which is offerd on specially crafted bamboo rafts. Spread over 950 acres of land, Kuruva Island, is popular for its diverse flora and fauna.
Edakkal caves ,located 10 kms from Sulthan Bathery and 25 kms away from Kalpetta lays two caves which showcases nature’s skill and philosophy on architecture. They have provided historians with great information regarding the lives and habits of our ancestors. The name ‘Edakkal’ literally means ‘a stone in between’ ,so as the name says the caves are two natural rock formations believed to have been formed by a large split in a huge rock.
The Pookot Lake,beautiful fresh-water lake is at a distance of 3km south of Vythiri town or 13 km from Kalpetta.Pookot Lake is a natural fresh water lake nestled amidst evergreen forests and wooded slopes which is surrounded by lush greenery all around. The pathway around the lake is lined by thick bushes and tall trees which further add to the overall charm. One of the main tributaries of the Kabani River – the Panamaram rivulet originates from Pookot Lake and then tumbles down into Panamaram valley.

Lakkidi is the gateway of Wayanad as it is located at the crest of the serpentine Thamarassery ghat pass. There are nine hairpin curves from Adivaram (Downhill) to Lakkidi through steep mountains and a journey through the serpentine ghat pass is worth an experience.The lush greenery of the hills, gorges and streams seen on both sides of the passage up the hill are sure to linger in the visitors’ mind for a long time.
The Thirunelli temple dedicated to Lord Maha Vishnu lies on the side of the Brahmagiri hills in Wayanad . The temple is also known as Sahyamala Kshetram and Kashi of South which is surrounded by beautiful hills and forests, is located 32 km away from Mananthavady. While reaching the premises of this temple, you will experience the tranquility. We will get refreshed with calm and peaceful surroundings covered with lush green forest.
